Home - Autism Teaching Institute

There is a growing imperative for Victorian educators to have the expertise to provide high quality learning experiences for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The Autism Teaching Institute is a highly regarded provider of autism specific training and consultancy for educators.

The Autism Teaching Institute (ATI) has been training education professionals throughout the state of Victoria since 2006 and has gained a reputation for the quality and practical nature of our courses. The training programs are facilitated by ATI expert practitioners in the field of ASD who have extensive experience working with students with autism. The ATI consistently receives excellent feedback, both from participants and employers.

Autism Teaching Institute, Western Autistic School's Registered Training Organisation (RTO), is registered to deliver nationally recognised and accredited training and assessment services.

The Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma of Teaching Students with ASD postgraduate courses are based on a reflective practice model in which teachers are presented with current, high-quality research from experts in the field of ASD, and guided to translate this into their everyday classroom practice. The focus on practical application of the theoretical information provided in the course invites teachers to explore the unique learning characteristics of individual students with ASD. Teachers are encouraged to incorporate strategies that support students with ASD into their classroom practice to create an inclusive learning environment.

The training is focused on the current needs of teachers and the students in their classrooms. Opportunities to observe an Autism-Specific setting and inclusive programs at ATI Partnership Schools are available to enrich the practical component of the training.

Participants completing the accredited courses will receive a nationally recognised Special Education qualification as endorsed by the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).

Do you teach or support children or young people who have autism? Our vocational training courses can help you build on your existing experience and achieve recognised qualifications specific to autism.
